Lifestreams: Continuum as Movement Medicine

A 3-day Immersion with Amber Gray

Abbotsford Convent, Naarm (Melbourne)

We are movement. We move as subtly as breath and as dynamically as dance. Life streams through our mostly watery bodies as movement. Continuum is a movement practice that is “moving medicine”, its potency can restore, reconnect and recall the streams that nourish and inspire us when we are tired, stressed, exhausted or injured. Emilie Conrad, creator of Continuum, taught that all fluids are basically one element, resonating with all other fluids. They function as a kind of umbilical cord supplying us with the pulsing undulations of life. We are individually and collectively many streams of liquid movement that can harmonize within and with everything around us.

In this playshop we weave embodied wisdom from many streams: practical and mystical, scientific and spiritual, ordinary and wild. Polyvagal Theory, Vodou, Sacred Dance, Eco-somatic approaches to trauma, and contemplative movement. These streams are illuminated through simple sound streams to stir the fluid that resides within our tissues, sonic breathing, and our own authentic movement. In this gathering, we will amplify the reach of this work though opportunities to address specific participant or client injuries and issues as shared by the group, focusing on how Continuum supports our return to fluidity and health in our tissue, movement, and overall well-being after specific injuries, chronic stress, and/or exposure to life challenging or traumatic events.

This workshop is open to movement artists, practitioners and teachers, somatic and creative arts psychotherapists, body workers, creatives, somatic activists, health and mental health care professionals, and all those committed to self-inquiry as healing, restoration, and liberation.
