Dancing
the Wild
Home: Tonga

An 8-Person, 7 days, Eco-Somatic Immersion in the Birthing Waters of the Humpback Whale

Two Dates Available:

  • August 12 – 20, 2026
  • August 25 – September 3, 2026

Overview

Dancing the Wild Home Retreats are an invitation to return to our wild nature, to rejoin the rhythms of breath, body, ocean, and life. Immersed in the blues and greens of Tonga, we are witnessed by, and witness, the Humpback Whales—the Ocean’s great Wisdom Keepers—as they gather in their birthing waters. Each day, we enter sacred ground.

Held in a protected whale breeding sanctuary on Uoleva, this retreat weaves embodied practice, ecological connection, and communal presence, inviting participants to experience flow, reciprocity, and renewal while supporting a local Tongan community and deepening commitment to planetary stewardship.

The Journey:

Dancing the Wild Home: Rewilding our Grief
Dates: August 12 – 20, 2026 (8 nights)

Grief is not a burden; it is a sacred, life-affirming force. In this cohort, we use movement, ritual, and the witnessing presence of the whales to tend to our personal and planetary loss. We do not "fix" grief; we let the ocean wash it into resilience.

Location

Our home is the Serenity Beach Resort in Haʻapai—a remote, solar-powered eco-sanctuary. Accommodations are open-air fales immersed in nature, designed to let the sound of the ocean become your lullaby. We are not staying in a luxury hotel. We are staying in the jungle, close to the earth.
  • Remote South Pacific island setting
  • Daily movement & Continuum practice
  • Simple, open-air fales on a white sand beach
  • Solar-powered, rain-collected water, eco-retreat living
  • Extremely quiet, unplugged, minimal infrastructure
  • In-water swimming with humpback whales and sea life

Schedule & Flow

Morning: Daily movement & Continuum practice with Amber to prepare the somatic body
Mid-Day: In-water encounters. Swimming with whales and sea life, guided by local experts and supported by Amber’s trauma-informed framework.
Late Afternoon: Exploration & Rest. Soaking in hot springs, hiking to waterfalls, or resting in the gardens.
Evening: Collective reflection, "Heart Lines" circle, and dinner.

Who is this for?

For the Wild-Hearted

You feel called to remote, untamed places. You can meet simplicity, shifting conditions, and limited connectivity with openness. The rawness is part of the medicine.

For Embodied Practitioners

You are a therapist, mover, artist, or seeker ready to deepen your work through direct relationship with land and sea. You value presence, practice, and lived experience.

For Stewards of the Living World

You approach the Ocean with respect. You understand that being with whales is a privilege. You’re willing to listen, learn, and move in reciprocity with the living world and its rhythms.

Serenity provides basic equipment, but Amber strongly recommends bringing your own mask, snorkel, and fins if possible to ensure comfort and proper fit. Wetsuits and additional gear are optional depending on your comfort in cooler water.

Yes. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel and trip insurance due to weather, flight disruptions, and the remote location of the retreat.

Participants fly internationally to Tongatapu, Tonga, then take a coordinated domestic flight to Ha'apai before transferring by boat to Uoleva Island. Detailed travel instructions are provided after registration, and Amber coordinates group arrivals whenever possible.

We recommend comfortable movement clothing, multiple swimsuits, sun protection, reef-safe sunscreen, medications, a flashlight or headlamp, a journal, and any personal snorkeling equipment you prefer. A detailed packing guide is provided after registration.

Humpback whales are not the focus of the retreat—they are our companions and teachers. Dancing the Wild Home explores movement, relationship, reciprocity, and belonging through direct experience with the living world. Encounters with whales invite us into listening, presence, humility, and awe, deepening the embodied practices we explore throughout the retreat.
