DESCRIPTION:Presented by Amber Gray\, LPCC\, MPH\, MA\, BC-DMT Dates\, Times\, and Locations \nApril 21\, 2017 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Albuquerque\, NM \nObjectives \nBy the end of this training\, participants will be able to: \n1. Participants will have an overview and framework with which to better understand the complex issues arising in clinical work with refugees and survivors of torture.\n2. Participants will understand self-care as an ethical requirement of work with refugees and survivors.\n3. Participants will understand the benefits and risks of empathy in psychotherapy with refugees and survivors of torture.\n4. Participants will learn one compassion-based\, self-care skill.\nParticipants will be introduced to the unique community\, social\, and health/ mental health issues that can exist within a community of people displaced by extreme hardship\, war\, organized violence\, and human rights abuses.\n6. Participants will have increased skills to assess refugees presenting with mental health\, social\, functional\, and adjustment issues. \nRegistration \nThe deadline for registration is Tuesday\, April 18\, 2017.
